In 2023 the Museum published a short guidebook to “THE HISTORIC VILLAGE OF TUTBURY”. With 30 pages of information, lots of colour and a handy street map, it provides an excellent introduction to our village’s rich past and present, and an inexpensive souvenir for visitors. Price £2.80.

Copies are available in the Museum, or contact us through our contact form if you would like to purchase a copy.

RELAUNCH OF OUR MUSEUM

Commencing in 2022, we brought together a number of initiatives, aimed at effectively relaunching the Museum after some long periods of enforced closure.  They were intended to help us reconnect with both local residents and visitors, enhancing what we can offer and increasing the Community’s awareness of our resources

These improvements were partially funded by a grant received from the Tutbury Community Fund administered by East Staffordshire Borough Council.

The initiatives include:

  • Rehosting and enhancement of this Website.
  • Professionalisation of our Displays.
  • Upgrading of our I.T. facilities, providing internet availability in the Museum for the first time.
  • A volunteer team that has transcribed the household returns from the recently released 1921 Census for Tutbury and the surrounding villages. Read more on the Census 1921 page.
  • Creation of our own 1960 Census of Tutbury. Read more on the Tutbury Census 1960 page.
  • Publication of two Books on the history of the local glassmaking industry in Tutbury and Hatton. Read more here.

The Platinum Jubilee Village Photo – we still have a few A4 copies left to purchase at £3 each. If you would like to purchase one, please send us a message via the contact page.

Were you there? If so, we would like to collect and record your names for our archives.
